Linden Tree Alley of Gyomaendrőd

The linden trees were planted by Izidor Kner printery founder to the memory of the fallen heroes of the First World War.

Only one row of trees survived the storms of last decades. This is the linden tree alley adorning the Hősök emlékútja (Memorial Avenue of Heroes) planted 70 years ago to the memory of the fallen heroes of World War I by Izidor Kner, printing press founder. The blossoming two-kilometer-long linden tree alley adorning both sides of the road is an uplifting and magnificent spectacle turning into green at springtime.
According to a written document the district delegates decided to rename the Ferenc Deák street to Avenue Heroes Memorial (Hősök Emlékútja) and to plant it with valuable melliferous linden trees in honour of the heroes’ memory. The number of trees planted is on par with the number of soldiers from Gyoma who died in the World War.
